• Decide if control measures in place such as containment, extraction systems, PPE and RPE are adequate to provide protection against all routes of exposure
• Recommend changes to control measures or new ones in place to ensure employees are adequately protected if existing controls are inadequate
• ParaChem will carry out all of the above and present a COSHH assessment system that is acceptable to the HSE.

• Compiling an inventory of all consumables on site
• Obtaining Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for all substances
• Auditing SDSs to determine which have hazardous properties
• Assessing the methods of use, temperatures, concentrations etc. to judge whether there may be employee exposure by skin or eye contact, inhalation etc.
• Carry out air-monitoring as above if necessary

The DSEAR assessment covers substances that may create or contribute to the creation or persistence of a flammable atmosphere. The assessment includes;

• Obtaining Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for all substances
• Auditing SDSs to determine which have flammable, explosive or oxidising properties
• Assessing the methods of use, temperatures, containment etc. to assess whether there may be the possibility of the formation of a flammable atmosphere being created
• Carry out air-monitoring as above to determine the magnitude and persistence of a flammable atmosphere
• Compiling an inventory of all consumables on site
• Investigate if there may be other contributory factors such as ignition sources or other hazardous chemical reactions e.g. flammable solvents combining with oxidising agents
• Recommend changes to control measures or new ones to ensure employees are adequately protected if existing controls are inadequate
• ParaChem will carry out all of the above and present a COSHH assessment system that is acceptable to the HSE.
